Exhibition of Ng Lung Wai’s New Series of Artwork – “It Speaks to Me”

 

We cordially invite all of you to share Ng Lung Wai’s solo exhibition at G/F, Open Space, Central Plaza, Wanchai from March 21 to April 3, 2017.

 

From Ordinary to Extraordinary

Taking ordinary objects to make a huge painting, Ng gathers 300 ordinary white shirts, neatly mounts it on panel one by one to form a 6 metre x 5 metre canvas. He then applies with his unique twist, squeezing paint through medical syringe onto the canvas; the visual effect is phenomenal.

Another focus of this exhibition is an artwork made with Ng’s private collection – architectural models. Ng collects more than 400 architectural models of different scales, including residential block, commercial complex, gymnasium, amusement park, and many other types of buildings. Like a town planner, he locates each of them onto a panel, ‘land’ to form a ‘mini city’ and then splashes and squeezes paint onto that ‘mini city’ to make a painting.

Sharing the Inner World through Artwork

Every single painting in this exhibition not only shows the skill and exploration process Ng did in his art journey, but also reflects his inner world to audience. “Spontaneous choice on colors with intuitive action on applying the paint leads to a reflection of my subconscious self onto the painting.” Ng said.
